Blackened Fish Tacos

We thought the blackening would overpower the fish, but it didn’t at all. The recipe below is enough for 8 “street” size tacos or 4 regular size.

Ingredients:

Blackening Spices:

  • 1 Teaspoon paprika
  • ½ Teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ Teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ Teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ Teaspoon dried basil
  • ¼ Teaspoon oregano
  • ¼ Teaspoon thyme
  • ¼ Teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ Teaspoon fresh ground pepper

Directions:

Mix together all the blackening spices. Pat the fish dry and coat both sides with the spice. Press it into the flesh and let marinate for 30 minutes to 2 hours. Heat a skillet to medium high and add a little oil. When oil is hot, cook fish for 3-4 minutes. Carefully flip and cook until the fish easily flakes.

To serve, place about 1 ounce of fish in each street tortilla and top with toppings below and a little of the Net Gourmet’s Cole Slaw for Fish. Toppings: Diced tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers. Fresh lime, shredded cheese, sour cream.
