I’ve been watching some food shows lately and there seems to be a big demand out there for “gourmet” hamburgers.
A hamburger is ground meat served on a bun. There really isn’t much debate about that.
There are really only three things you can do to make it “gourmet”:
- Add stuff to the ground meat.
- Add stuff on top of the meat.
- Put everything on a specialty bun.
Well, what I’ve recently learned is there is a fourth way to make a “gourmet” burger.
Stick a knife in it.
Take any burger, serve it on a cutting board and stick a steak knife in it. Then call it a “gourmet” burger.
As you can probably see. We’re not very big on the latest fad here. Sure, it’s nice to have the knife handy to cut the burger in half, but usingĀ a 9 inch knife where a frill pick will do just to get the “Ahhhhh” on delivery is a little much.
