We thought the blackening would overpower the fish, but it didn’t at all. The recipe below is enough for 8 “street” size tacos or 4 regular size.
Ingredients:
- ½ lb Mahi Mahi or other firm white fish
- 8 Street tortillas or 4 regular size
- 1 Cup The Net Gourmets Cole Slaw for Fish
- Toppings (see list below)
- Oil for cooking
Blackening Spices:
- 1 Teaspoon paprika
- ½ Teaspoon cayenne pepper
- ½ Teaspoon onion powder
- ½ Teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ Teaspoon dried basil
- ¼ Teaspoon oregano
- ¼ Teaspoon thyme
- ¼ Teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ Teaspoon fresh ground pepper
Directions:
Mix together all the blackening spices. Pat the fish dry and coat both sides with the spice. Press it into the flesh and let marinate for 30 minutes to 2 hours. Heat a skillet to medium high and add a little oil. When oil is hot, cook fish for 3-4 minutes. Carefully flip and cook until the fish easily flakes.
To serve, place about 1 ounce of fish in each street tortilla and top with toppings below and a little of the Net Gourmet’s Cole Slaw for Fish. Toppings: Diced tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers. Fresh lime, shredded cheese, sour cream.
