Secret Ingredient for Delicious Beef Stew

A box of apple juice it typically what you would see in a home that has some young children. Not usually in our pantry… but you would.

It happened by accident. I wanted to add a little more liquid to a beef stew I was making and I didn’t have any beef or chicken stock (yes, I use chicken stock in beef stew), but I did have a little left in a bottle of Apple Juice I had in the refrigerator.

It was a decent sized pot of stew, so a cup of apple juice wasn’t going to made a tremendous difference.

But it did.

Everyone mentioned “something was different” about the stew. It looked the same, smelled the same, but something was different. The apple juice added just a little sweetness to the broth without really changing the stew.

So, now I keep a package of single serve apple juice bottles or boxes in the pantry just to add to the stew pot.
