Everyone has heard about a pot of “gravy” cooking on the stove for hours. I’m sure it tastes great, but let’s be honest, who has “hours” to cook pasta sauce?
Not me.
So, I use the following to create a great home made sauce.
Ingredients:
- 2 Cans 28oz. Pastine (or your favorite kitchen ready tomatoes)
- 1/2 Can water
- 1 Onion chopped
- 2 Cloves garlic, chopped
- 2 Tablespoon olive oil
- 1 Tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 Teaspoon dried oregano or thyme
- Salt and Pepper
- 1 Handful fresh basil or 1 Tablespoon dried.
Directions:
Sauté onion and garlic until translucent. Add tomatoes and water, sugar, oregano, salt and pepper.
Simmer for 20 minutes or more. Add basil and cook for another 5 to 10 minutes.
