The problem with most baked ziti casseroles are they are too dry. This one is different. It’s gooey, cheese and plenty of sauce in it. The key to a great side dish.
Ingredients:
- 1 Pound dried ziti
- 3½ Cups red sauce
- 1 Pound mozzarella cheese shredded
- 3/4 Cup grated Parmesean
- 1/2 Teaspoon ground pepper
- 1/4 Teaspoon red pepper flakes.
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º F
Cook pasta per package directions LESS than suggested for firm. Ex.: If the package says 9 minutes if firm, cook for about 8. Drain when done.
In a large bowl, mix the pasta, sauce, ½ the mozzarella, ½ the Parmesan cheese, black pepper and pepper flakes.
Transfer to a 9: X 13″ baking dish. Cover with the remaining mozzarella and then Parmesan on top.
Bake about 30 minutes until bubbly and lightly browned.
