The steak in our image is a large slice from an Easter ham, but you can get a perfectly fine ham steak from the market just about anytime. Serves 2.
Ingredients:
- 1 Ham steak, 3/4 to 1 pound
- 1 Tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 Tablespoon maple syrup
- 1/2 Tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 Tablespoon cider vinegar
- 1 Tablespoon butter
Directions: Preheat outdoor grill or indoor grill pan to very hot.
Melt the butter in a small bowl in the microwave. Add the sugar, maple syrup, mustard and vinegar and stir until the sugar is melted and well combined. You may need to microwave for 30 seconds to dissolve the sugar completely. Paint one side of the ham with the glaze and place on the hot grill. Then paint the other side. The ham is fully cooked, so you need to bring it up to serving temperature and get some tasty grill marks on it. This typically takes 2 or 3 minutes per side.
