In most parts of the country it is difficult to get fresh shrimp. That’s okay. Frozen shrimp is fine, it’s the cooked frozen shrimp we have a problem with. Many times the frozen cooked shrimp tastes like iodine. It’s so simple to take just a little extra time and cook the shrimp yourself.
Ingredients:
- I Pound frozen uncooked shrimp
- 1 Small onion
- 1 Rib Celery
- 3 Bay leaves
- 1 Tablespoon peppercorns
- 1/2 Cup lemon juice or white vinegar
- 1 Cup water
Directions:
Wash and thaw the shrimp under cold running water.
In a large pot, combine all the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Steam the shrimp using a steamer basket for 6-8 minutes. Remove from the heat and cool immediately under cold running water.
When cool, peel and serve.
