Jack Daniels Bourbon Grilled Pork Chops Or Pork Loin

We used Jack Daniels, but we’ve made this with Jim Beam and even “bar” bourbon and they come out great. The trick is not to cook them too long in the oven. We’ve tried finishing them in the marinade pan on the grill, but it’s hard to control the exact temperature on most grills and they tend dry out a little. It’s best to follow the recipe and finish them in your oven.

For The Pork Chops: Ingredients:

  • 4 1 Inch, bone in pork chops
  • 1/2 Cup bourbon
  • 1/2 Cup Apple juice
  • 2 Tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 1/8 Teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Chopped parsley, chives or green onions for garnish

Directions: Preheat oven to 375ยบ F

Mix bourbon, juice, sugar, vinegar and pepper and marinate pork chops in the mixture for at least 1 hour. It’s easier to marinate them in the oven proof pan you will be cooking them in.

Preheat outdoor grill or indoor grill pan to very hot. Dry chops off with a paper towel and brown the chops on both sides on the very hot grill. You are just marking them, you are not trying to cook them through.

When marked, return the chops to the marinate pan. Marinate should only come up half way on chops. Remove some if necessary. Cover with foil and pop into the preheated oven for 15 minutes until chops are just a little pink in the center. Chops thicker than 1 inch will take longer in the oven, thinner chops will take less time.

Remove chops to a serving plate. Use the same foil to cover to keep warm. Pour all the marinate in a small saucepan and reduce on top of the stove until it becomes a thick glaze. Pour over chops, garnish and serve. Recipe serves 4. Images show serving for 6

For The Pork Loin:

For a single pork loin, cut the marinate ingredients in half and marinate for at least an hour. Grill the loin for about 10 minutes on each side until the center is just a little pink.

Reduce the left over marinate in a sauce pan until it becomes thick. Unlike the pork chops, this marinate will be lighter because it has not been roasted. It will look more like applesauce when it’s done. One pork loin serves 2-3 people.
