No, It’s Not A Typo… Grilled Romaine Hearts

This is a recipe you use for two reasons.

  1. To really get the WOW factor when serving your guests.
  2. When you really want to try something delicious.

Really. Cooking lettuce on the grill doesn’t seem logical. You will be surprised. They may be cooked outside on your grill, but using a grill pan on your stove works fine. Actually, unless you are planning on cooking something else on your BBQ grill, you will spend more energy heating it up than you will cooking the lettuce.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Romaine hearts, cut in half the long way leaving the end intact so they stay together.
  • Olive oil for drizzling
  • S&P
  • Balsamic vinegar glaze
  • Fresh shaved Parmesan cheese
  • The Net Gourmet Perfect Croutons

Directions:

Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium high heat. Brush all sides of the hearts with the olive oil and grill over medium heat until they char just a little and wilt slightly turning once. This should take only 4 or 5 minutes.

Season with salt and pepper. Top with a teaspoon of good quality Parmesan cheese, a few croutons and drizzle with some balsamic vinegar glaze.
